An attorney cannot simply use that title as a marketing description. Certification through the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization requires attorneys to satisfy specific requirements concerning examination, experience, continuing legal education and evaluation by other attorneys and judges familiar with their work.<\/p>\n<p>Certification should not be the only factor in selecting an attorney, but it is an objective qualification worth investigating.<\/p>\n<p>When researching an attorney with AI, don&#8217;t simply ask whether the lawyer \u201cspecializes\u201d in workers\u2019 compensation. Ask:<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cIs this attorney currently a Certified Specialist in Workers\u2019 Compensation Law through the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization, and can you show me where I can independently verify that?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>Look at Experience in Context<\/h2>\n<p>Years in practice also deserve context.<\/p>\n<p>How long has the attorney handled workers\u2019 compensation cases? Has the attorney practiced in your community for a substantial period? Is the office genuinely local, or is the firm advertising across a large geographic area from offices located elsewhere?<\/p>\n<p>None of these questions automatically determines whether an attorney is right for you. They simply give you better information before making your decision.<\/p>\n<h2>Don&#8217;t Just Count Reviews \u2014 Look at Their History<\/h2>\n<p>Online reviews can provide useful information, but a five-star average tells only part of the story.<\/p>\n<p>Look at reviews over time. A professional practice may accumulate reviews gradually over many years. Read what clients actually say rather than concentrating solely on the number of stars.<\/p>\n<p>Patterns can also be informative. For example, a sudden cluster of many positive reviews following a period of negative reviews may deserve a closer look. It does not necessarily mean the reviews are false\u2014a firm may simply have begun legitimately asking its clients for reviews\u2014but unusual review patterns are a reason to read more carefully rather than relying on the overall rating.<\/p>\n<p>Look for substance. Do reviewers describe an actual experience? Do reviews mention communication, accessibility, the attorney or staff they worked with, and how their matter was handled? Are reviews distributed over a meaningful period of time?<\/p>\n<p>AI can help with this analysis. Try asking:<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cAnalyze the publicly available reviews for these attorneys. Don&#8217;t just compare star ratings. Look at how long the review histories extend, the frequency and timing of reviews, whether the reviews contain details suggesting actual client experiences, and whether there are unusual patterns. Do not assume unusual reviews are fake. Tell me what I should examine myself.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>Verify Before You Decide<\/h2>\n<p>AI is a research assistant, not a substitute for your own judgment.<\/p>\n<p>Verify professional credentials through the State Bar. Read both positive and negative reviews. Visit the attorney&#8217;s website.
